Raisin Sauce

From Dorothy McNett's Recipe book at www.dorothymcnett.com. Use candied orange and lemon peel for a dynamite dessert souffle sauce. (Try the Italian minced dried fruit mix...it is fabulous!!!)

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
1/2 teaspoon Sweet Spice Blend, or cinnamon
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 cup seedless raisins, or other snipped dried fruits
1 3/4 cup water
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 tablespoon butter

In heavy bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, salt, spices, and cornstarch. Gently whisk in remaining ingredients. Bring to boil, stirring constantly. Reduce to simmer and cook and stir until thickened. Serve about 1-2 tablespoons of this with fruitcakes or plum puddings.

Recipe created 1999-10-19.
