Baked Chestnuts

From Dorothy McNett's Recipe Book at www.dorothymcnett.com. This is a great side dish to serve with turkey and dressing. Cook the chestnuts in the oven while the turkey is cooking.

2 cups chestnuts (already shelled)
2 cups vegetable, chicken or turkey stock

1 tablespoon butter or olive oil
1 tablespoon flour

roasted garlic bits

Place chestnuts in casserole, pour the stock over. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Remove from oven and remove chestnuts to a serving bowl. In frypan, heat butter or oil whisking in the flour and then whisking in the hot broth. Cook 1-2 minutes to make a sauce, pour over the chestnuts and serve with the dressing from the turkey, garnished with some snipped herbs or crispy roasted garlic bits.
