Anise Poached Pears

From Dorothy McNett's Recipe Book at www.dorothymcnett.com.

1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup water
1/4 teaspoon anise seeds, crushed
1 teaspoon lemon juice
dash of sea salt
1 1/2 pounds firm ripe pears

Combine sugar and water. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Add remaining ingredients. Cover. Microwave on high for 6-8 minutes, or until the pears are tender. Allow to cool and serve with orange and grapefruit slices, if desired, for a refreshing and light dessert. Especially nice after spicy foods.
